International Law Mediation Tournament

Loyola team members Meg Davis (center), Giorie Mahn and Randy Ojeda (holding trophy) were one of 52 teams to compete in the 13th Annual International Law School Mediation Tournament held March 5-8 at the Philip H. Corboy Law Center. The competition was cohosted by Loyola University Chicago and the INADR. Loyola advanced to the semifinal round.

Consumer Privacy

Maneesha Mithal of the Federal Trade Commission’s Division of Privacy and Identity Protection delivered a special address at Loyola’s recent Consumer Law Review Symposium, Consumer Privacy and Data Collection. Her address focused on FTC initiatives to protect consumer privacy.

Video: National Security Debate

Anthony Romero, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union, was among the distinguished speakers to participate in Loyola’s National Security and Civil Rights Symposium on Feb. 7. Romero discussed fugitive Edward Snowden and the political and moral implications of the government’s electronic surveillance programs. Video of the event is now available.

Loyola Wins Vis Moot East

Loyola won the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition in Hong Kong. Loyola beat the University of Amsterdam in the final round. Ninety-nine schools from 28 countries competed in the 2014 Vis Moot East. Congratulations to Jan Greszta, Erin Wenger, Jennifer Fair, Kelsey Leingang, and their coaches Professor Margaret Moses, John Calhoun, and Josh Heffernan.

Loyola Wins National Ethics Trial Competition

Loyola Wins Frederick Douglass

Loyola team members Johanne Verpil (left) and Kandice Harris won the Midwest Regional Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition held at the Midwest National Black Law Students Association Convention February 1-2. Johanne also won Best Oralist. The team will compete for the national championship in March.
